The
Mount Gravatt Photographic Society is a community-based non-profit camera club
that is affiliated with the Photographic Society of Queensland. The club was
formed in February 1967 by a small group of enthusiastic amateur photographers.

The
Aims of Mount Gravatt Photographic Society:
- To
foster a love of the art of photography amongst its members and in the community
- To
assist members with problems appertaining to photography
- To
achieve a more fruitful alliance between the beginner and the experienced
photographer
- To
present lectures on photography for beginners
- To
arrange competitions both within the Society and with other bodies from time
to time
Monthly
Competitions:
The
club runs monthly competitions for members in the following categories:
- Digital
Projected Images - A, AB and B Grades (entries via Email)
- Colour and Monochrome
Prints - A, AB and B Grade (Small Prints)
- Colour
Slides - A and B Grades
(Note:
Entries must be submitted in person. These are not on-line competitions.)
Annual
Competitions:
MGPS
runs annual Print and Slide of the Year Competitions in December. The club also
submits entries in annual interclub competitions including the following:
- Metropolitan
Interclub Projected Image Competition (approximately 10 clubs in Brisbane area)
- PSQ
Convention Interclub Print and Slide Competitions (whole of State)
- Bill
Smit Shield Interclub Competition
- River
City Print competition
