 Our very own Vice 
 President Joshua will be presenting a session on light and how it can be u
 sed in portrait photography.&nbsp\;
 He will be covering what light is an
 d how it's quality\, direction and intensity affect an image and why an un
 derstanding these properties gives you direct control over the mood and ou
 tcome of a portrait. He will also walk through the classic lighting patter
 ns that portrait photographers have been using for centuries including Rem
 brandt\, Loop\, Butterfly and Split lighting then go on to explain the phy
 sics behind why light behaves the way it does.
 A highlight of will be a 
 live demonstration which will show that professional results do not requir
 e professional budgets. Here Joshua will be working with studio strobes an
 d constant LED lights alongside everyday household items including desk la
 mps\, a torch\, tracing paper\, muslin\, and foam core board - so demonstr
 ating how the same lighting principles apply regardless of the equipment u
 sed.&nbsp\;
 Joshua is currently studying professional photography and sp
 ecialises in high quality fashion and portrait photography\, mostly from a
  studio environment. &nbsp\;
 All members are welcome and no prior experi
 ence with studio lighting is required. Bring your camera if you would like
  to participate in the demonstrations.
